Rolls-Royce appoints former BMW clothier as head of the layout

Rolls-Royce on Friday introduced that it has named Jozef Kabaň as its Head of Design. He was formerly Head of Design Studio BMW since 2017. Before that, he spent tons of his career with the Volkswagen Group, wherein he designed the outdoors of the Bugatti Veyron.

Kabaň joined the Volkswagen Group at the age of 20, making him one of the agency’s youngest designers ever. After being assigned the outside design of the Veyron in 1998, he sooner or later held roles on the Audi and Skoda brands. Along with primary manufacturing models, Rolls-Royce says Kabaň helped “revolutionize” Skoda’s layout ethos and that he also had the duty for unique-edition and concept vehicles.

Kabaň, who studied in Bratislava and at the Royal College of Art in London, could be primarily based at Rolls-Royce’s layout studio in Goodwood, UK, and Munich, Germany.

“He is an extremely gifted dressmaker with a robust track document and a huge breadth of capability. It is a testimony to the achievement of our commercial enterprise that, as the sector’s main luxurious residence, we are capable of appeal to the world’s very satisfactory layout talent,” Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO, stated in a declaration.

Rolls-Royce announced that its earlier Head of Design, Giles Taylor, left the company in June 2018.
When the 2020 Ford Escape parachutes into the compact SUV section q4, it’s going to arrive in a marked one-of-a-kind landscape than its progenitor did. While the primary Escape came for the 2001 model 12 months, it was just one in all six competitions. By Ford’s count number, these days, there are 22 nameplates, and soon, there may be 30 models jostling fender-to-fender, seeking to carve out an area in what has emerged as the car enterprise’s largest, most up to date, most crowded segment. It will take a lot greater to face out, and Ford thinks the other rounded and urbane crossover visible here has the products to do it.

Riding atop a brand new platform and stretching longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor, the 2020 Ford Escape range will arrive bristling with a luxurious suite of new powertrain tech, consisting of hybrid fashions with and without a plug. The new Escape line — referred to as the Kuga in Europe — will even deliver with it a cluster of latest convenience and protection technology, all aimed at taking over phase titans, which include the Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota RAV4, in addition to charismatic outsiders inclusive of the Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester. Ford even hopes to select off some luxurious nameplate shoppers who might otherwise be shopping for modestly spec’d fashions wearing top-class badges in its upper trims.

Starting with its most apparent new feature, styling, the 2020 Escape’s streamlined look is the direct result of ways overcrowded the compact crossover scene is turning into. The dramatic ramping up of segment entrants has meant report industry earnings. However, a few groups, like Ford, see darkish clouds on the horizon.

With so many alternatives headed to the marketplace, Blue Oval professionals are worried that models within the Escape’s segment are at threat of being commoditized. While the entirety starts offevolved to appearance the equal, shoppers gravitate to something product is most inexpensive, killing automaker profit margins within the system. As Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s govt VP of Product Development and Purchasing, instructed the media in a past due-March sneak-peek session, “the key to fending off the tyranny of commoditization is to have a very compelling, differentiated function within the marketplace.”

Therefore, the markedly more natural look of the 2020 Escape is one-half of a formidable new two-pronged strategy Ford will use to attack what has ended up one of the enterprise’s most vital segments.
